Camp FAQ
Each day starts with exciting interactive horse skills and each afternoon is filled with vibrant artistic exploration in dozens of different media. Before and after care are available on site. Regular hours for each session are 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Campers may bring a lunch; there is no charge for the lunch hour.
General Questions
Q: What are the fees for camp sessions?
A: $170 for one session (morning or afternoon), Monday through Friday.
$340 for two sessions (morning and afternoon), Monday through Friday.

Q: Is there a registration fee?
No, however part of the camp payment is a non-refundable deposit of $50.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: We accept cash, checks, or PayPal. Click here to register now.
Q: Do you offer before- and after-camp care?
A: Yes. 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. before care is $8.00, and 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. after care is $8.00.
Q: What should my child bring to before- and/or after-camp care?
A: A quiet activity or book, as well as a snack. Relaxed group activities will be available for campers to enjoy.
Morning Horse Camp
Q: What are the qualifications of your staff?
A: Kim Greene, Bright Horse Art Director, holds a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art and has been teaching children art for over eight years. Kim teaches the majority of Bright Horse art classes and camps. All Bright Horse instructors are required to hold a degree in art and have at least two years of experience teaching children.
Q: What are the activities for beginning interactive horse skills camps for 5-11 year-olds?
A: We deal with the animals as team-mates, not transportation. Name the Horse, Cafeteria, On a String, egg relays and obstacle courses are fascinating and exciting activities that teach observation and leadership skills in fun ways.
Q: What is the instructor to child ratio for horse camps?
A: There is one instructor for every four children.
Q: Do my children need to have experience in handling horses?
A: No previous experience with horses is necessary.
Q: Do we need helmets, boots and breeches for morning horse camp?
A: No, we are not learning to ride, so riding attire is not required. At most, campers may sit on a horse and be led under the supervision of an adult with an assistant in a very controlled setting. Horse camp participants do not need boots but must wear sturdy, close-toed shoes (no crocs, please). Campers should wear sun block and insect repellant. Bring a water bottle and a pair of long pants of any description to camp. If your child is staying all day, please bring a change of clothes as well.
A: What if it rains?
Q: We have covered spaces in which we can work with the horses in inclement weather. If there is lightning, we will take a break inside until the weather clears.

Q: What is the adult to child ratio of your classes?
A: For art classes our ratio is 8:1.
Q: What should my child bring to class?
A: Your child does not need to bring anything to class. Please leave all toys, food and drinks at home.
Q: What will my child create in art class?
A: Our art classes focus on teaching real art skills that will last a lifetime. This is a teacher directed class that focuses on drawing things that kids universally love such as animals, architecture, people, insects, and movie characters. The drawings are completed using a variety of media including oil pastel, watercolor paint, markers, chalk pastel, charcoal and colored pencil.
Q: Does my child need prior experience?
A: No prior experience is needed. The step-by-step structure and gentle teaching style encourage youngsters to be confident and have fun in a non-competitive atmosphere.
